NOrway - WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
If one were to ask me what experience in the past was the most influential in pursuing a career in travel, it would be experiencing the Northern Lights in Norway more than a decade ago.
I still remember the wild excitement we felt when we were surprised on our first night in the Arctic when the Lady appeared outside our hotel and our guides were knocking on our doors at the hotel asking us all to go out to the parking lot to see what was above us. Still in pajamas, we hurriedly went out and just stood there in frigid weather just being in awe.
Nothing of course prepared us for the grand show the following day when we drove hours away from our already pretty quiet area to a place with zero light pollution and just witnessed more than 4 hours of the greatest light show on earth.
There was a distinct moment during the night when the heavens opened up and a curtain of light in various shades of green and red and violet just seemed to cascade like a waterfall across the entire sky. We all stopped taking pics and videos. We stood there all collectively saying "aaaaaahhhhhh" - mouth agape, eyes wide open - mind and soul completely blown away.
